Launching the first training workshop for Arab NGOs on “The Implications of Climate Change and Ways of Confrontation” within the activities of the regional campaign “Sustainable Climate”

Yasser Badry 5-25-2022 Within the framework of activating the activities of the “Sustainable Climate” campaign, today, May 25, 2022, the first training workshop was launched for Arab NGOs on “The Implications of Climate Change and Ways of Confrontation” within the activities of the regional “Sustainable Climate” Campaign, in the presence of 50 Egyptian and Arab NGOs. The workshop aimed to raise the awareness of workers in Arab NGOs about the phenomenon of climate warming, how to confront the phenomenon, and the role of NGOs in confronting climate change. This workshop comes within the planned activities of the Sustainable Climate Campaign, which was launched regionally to support the efforts of the Egyptian state in preparing for the COP27 conference. The training workshop included several topics, the most important of which are: - Sustainable development and its relationship to climate change - Climate change concept, causes and consequences locally and internationally. - International efforts to confront climate change - National efforts to confront climate change - The most important items and objectives of the National Climate Change Strategy in Egypt 2050 - The role of civil society organizations in confronting climate change During the workshop, the participants’ proposals for the role of civil society organizations in climate action were discussed, the most important of which were: *Intensifying awareness campaigns about climate change and its societal impacts. * Activating the role of civil society organizations in launching a group of local private initiatives to reduce the effects of climate change. *Shedding light on associations and institutions active in the field of the environment. *It is necessary not to limit climate action only to the environmental aspect and to take into account the multiple impacts on the economic and social aspects as well The workshop was managed by: Mr. Mohamed Mamdouh - Head of the Associations Development Sector Mr. Hossam Abdel Nabi - Institutional Development Consultant It is worth noting that the campaign is sponsored by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the Egyptian Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs, the National Planning Institute, the United Nations Development Programme, the General Union of Non-Governmental Associations, the Arab Network of Non-Governmental Organizations, and under the presidential initiative “Prepare for Green.” #Sustainable_climate_campaign #Sustainable_national_work
